The game of failure is a meeting of two players on a chessboard endowed with 64 two-coloured huts.

Every player has 8 pawns and 8 rooms of black colour for the one and of white colour for other one. A room which performed a catch takes its place.

The game of failure is aimed at taking over the king. When the king is in position of danger, he is in failure and must defend himself. If the player cannot avoid the attack of his adversary, there is checkmate. In case the player does not have other solution than to cause the king to fail, the part of failure is stalemate or everyone.

The part begins with the player who has the white rooms. Every room has the own way it moves. The pawn advances of a hut and cannot return rear, the tower can move backward and forward, in the horizontal and in the vertical with the number of required huts. The horseman moves of three huts in the form of L. The lady is very free in her movements similar in the tower besides displacement in diagonal. The king, as for him, moves of a hut with the same possibilities as those of the lady. The players once move a pawn alternately.

A part of failure can lead to a draw in case of repetitive failure or to an abandonment of one of the players because of a dead end.

Among the rules of failure for the experts, there is roque performed by the king and the tower who move at the same time. To be able to play roque, the king and the tower have to stay in their initial position, the king should not be in position of failure, he must neither pass nor stop on a hut attacked by the enemy rooms. By moving these two rooms, the player must make sure that there is always a free space between the king and the tower. In case the player abandons the part of failure, his adversary wins game, this last can approve or not this decision of the player which leaves. In the case of the repetition of situation, a player can say that game is no if the dispositions of rooms return three times in succession.

According to the rules of 50 blows where there are 50 displacements of rooms, if no room was taken or no pawn was moved, game is declared void. Failure is played with a clock or by correspondence. Clocks allow to know the player how long took to move a room. This rule of game imposes maximum one time to accomplish a rather important catch. In catch by passing, an opposing pawn attacks another pawn by moving of a hut while a pawn can move of two huts.

Promotion is an exchange of pawn against a room as the tower, lady, the horseman or the madman with a very definite site.
