Rules of the Billiards 9 Ball
The part of game 9-ball is played with an advanced bowl of white colour and nine bowls of colour distinct and introducing a number between 1 and 9. Game is aimed at pocketing the bowl number 9. Before beginning a part, all bowls in colour, except the white bowl, must be gathered in the form of rhomb next to the centre of the table of billiards. The bowl which carries the number 1 must be at the head of the rhomb, the one who carries the number 9 in the centre of the rhomb and all remaining bowls can be put in an unpredictable way.
When game begins, the white bowl must be behind the starting line. For every beginning of a part of game 9-ball, the white bowl must always touch the bowl which carries number the lowest before of touch of other bowls. Otherwise, it will be an error. However, fact to touch the bowl having the smallest number does not mean that this bowl must be pocketed. During the printing at one stroke, four bowls, at least, have to touch bands unless a bowl is pocketed with a valid blow. If any bowl is pocketed in a valid way, the player can continue drawing blows until one is missing. If it is the bowl 9 which was pocketed, she must be delayed on her place of origin. For game of 9-ball, the player can pocket bowls any time and in any order.
As all games, game of 9-ball penalises errors made by the player. An error takes place:
- If the player could not touch the bowl which carries the lowest number of the table during its first shooting.
- If the player could not touch the band with at least four bowls.
- If the player does not succeed in touching a bowl numbered with the advanced bowl.
- If the player pockets the white bowl.
Finally, if the bowl number 9 is pocketed with a blow which is not valid. In case one of these errors comes, the hand passes to the adversary who can put the white bowl in any place of the card table, that is he is not obliged to put the advanced bowl behind the starting line. It is to mention that any pocketed bowl cannot be delayed on its place when the player made one of these errors. If the player makes three successive errors, he loses the part.
